MPM can benefit a range of payment environments regardless of size, complexity, and structure. For example, MPM can be deployed as a centralised payment processing hub replacing complex payment flows between existing core processing systems.
Equally, MPM can be wrapped around existing legacy payment engines, modernising the payments system and providing a modern, agile and flexible payment hub.

MPM’s flexible architecture allows banks to take a phased approach to modernising their payment systems - focusing on solving specific business issues via a series of manageable projects. Migrating to a strategic payments environment can be achieved whilst delivering continuous benefit and early ROI.

Case Studies
Misys Payment Manager (MPM) automates the processing of all payment types - from high value cross-border to low value, high volume domestic retail - on the same platform. It is a truly global solution, supporting 24x7 operations, multiple languages, calendars and currencies.
MPM consists of four high-level services:
- Payment Initiation - Responsible for receiving and validating payments, establishing the payment type and passing them on for further processing
- Payment Processing - The payment type will determine the processing steps required, including validation, prioritisation, defaulting and enrichment of data, routing, calculation of fees, risk monitoring and reporting
- Payment Delivery - Responsible for transforming payments into the correct format for the targeted execution mechanism and delivering them. For example, SWIFT FIN, SEPA, Target2, STEP2 and SWIFT Bulk payments.
- Post-processing - Invoked for matching and reconciliation, exception handling, rejection processing, audit and archive
In addition, the solution supports a wide range of standards and provides the capability to connect internally to back-office systems and third-party services, as well as external financial messaging services and Clearing and Settlement Mechanisms.
SWIFTNet Workers' Remittances
MPM now includes support for the SWIFTNet Workers' Remittances service, allowing quick and easy integration. Download our Workers' Remittances Fact Sheet.
The market for remittances has been growing steadily, especially since the World Bank asked banks to play a greater role in offering lower cost alternatives to the existing Money Transfer Organisations (MTOs).
In response, SWIFT has launched the SWIFTNet Workers' Remittances service in conjunction with a group of participating banks. This new service includes new message types, validations, business processes, reference data and rules to facilitate cross-border, low-value, person-to-person payments.
Our technical approach consists of utilising advanced SOA, standards-based solutions designed to help banks break down operational silos into functional elements. Misys provides agile development environments to support all SWIFT standards and services and complete modern payment engines.
MPM uses Java EE which means seamless integration into a bank's Java EE environment, re-using investment in scalability and redundancy. This is especially important when we talk about a payment hub that integrates all current legacy systems within the bank to give them the ability to support new standards and services required by regulations and opportunity.
MPM is designed to be implemented incrementally, creating a low risk, gradual implementation approach that delivers business benefit and ROI all the way through, important in this mission-critical system space.
